The Red Canoe

What a splash of red that canoe makes among the blues, greens and grays! It makes me think of the cardinals I saw recently, darting through the dull, late-autumn treetops. A jolt of brilliance in an old, bare place. It’s memorable, and I appreciate both the cardinals and Homer’s painting.

  1. Amy,
    It’s beautiful , just beautiful.
I don’t remember going fishing in 1884 , but then I don’t remember a lot of things. That looks like me on a camping and fishing , trip near my home , at one of my favorite spots. The only thing missing is Little Bear should be in the canoe.
I didn’t realize anyone was watching.
Great eye you have there. Well , I suppose you have two.
